The Joy Of | is an experimental studio run by designer Lina Survila. It makes familiar objects that behave unexpectedly: hoodies with sleeves that run past the hand, bags shaped like sculptures. Everything is designed and made in Vilnius.

Hi!

I studied and lived in fashion for most of my life. Spent more than ten years working as a fashion editor at fashion magazine L’Officiel. I was working on trends, styling and got into deep conversations on how garments are made and presented.

I later moved into fashion technology. I co-founded a Web3 fashion startup and have advised metaverse games and digital fashion projects. Tech publication Hackernoon recognised me as a Woman in Tech in 2020 and nominated me for Gaming Guru of the Year in 2023.

Why I started the studio

After years in fast, digital work, I wanted to make physical things again. THE JOY OF | began with a handmade birthday gift and is now a studio for bags and garments.

How I work

I design every piece myself and produce in small, limited batches in Lithuania. I work out the patterns and construction, choose the materials, and handle the details of finishing and labelling. Nothing is mass-produced.

What I’m after

The balance between chaos and order, and shapes that are slightly imperfect on purpose. I want each piece to bring ideas from fashion, art and digital culture into something you can wear and use every day.
